Say YES to Success – Dress for Success Wellington launches new name and a new approach

Updated: Dec 19, 2023

Dress for Success Wellington is committed to supporting people in the Wellington region to achieve their aspirations in work and life. We help get our clients prepared for work and to be successful in their careers by providing appropriate clothing and styling advice, ready for work programmes, mentoring and ongoing career support.

While still remaining part of the global charity, Dress for Success Wellington is renaming to become Yes for Success.

“We are still very much part of the well-known, loved and very successful global charity Dress for Success, and our new name allows us to better meet the needs of the Wellington regional community – ensuring we can provide our programmes and services to people of all genders. We can be more responsive and accessible to a much wider range of people who can benefit from our support,” says Jacqui Eyley, Executive Manager for Yes for Success.

The new name will be formally launched on Thursday 16 November at the same time as Yes for Success celebrates the opening of the new client hub and ‘dressed’ boutique. Located in the heart of the Wellington CBD, at 90 The Terrace, the recycled clothing boutique provides a wide range of great quality clothing for all genders at affordable prices, keeping more waste from landfill and helping raise much needed funds to support the charity’s styling service, success workshops and career coaching programmes.

“Our ‘why’ is firmly fixed on empowering all people for success, working to create stronger communities, and environmental sustainability – by recycling clothing to help reduce our carbon footprint,” says Jacqui.

“We are fortunate and extremely grateful to receive so many donations of very good quality clothing, shoes and accessories that we can use for our client suiting and styling service or sell in our ‘dressed’ recycle boutiques. We can contribute to the region’s sustainability objectives by reducing the amount of textile waste going to landfill. We understand around 180,000 tonnes of textile waste is dumped in Aotearoa New Zealand each year.”

“I’m proud to say that in the past 12 months, we were able to recycle over 5 tonnes of clothing through our client suiting and styling service, and sales in our ‘dressed’ recycled stores,” says Jacqui.

Dress for Success Wellington, now Yes for Success, has been supporting clients in the Wellington region for 21 years. This year alone Yes for Success has provided their suiting and styling service to over 400 clients. Alongside their workshops and career coaching, the charity has made a real difference in helping a whole lot of people find work and achieve success.

Yes for Success also operates a client hub and ‘dressed’ boutique at 9 Margaret Street in Lower Hutt.
