Sean's story

Sean kindly agreed to share his job hunting story and take part in a photoshoot organised by our volunteer, Nishita Wojnar @nishitawojnar. We wish him the best of luck in his search. PS. Looking good!

How did you hear about DFS?

I recently completed a Bachelor of Business and heard about Yes for Success through Work and Income.

Can you tell us a bit about why you came to us for assistance?

I came to Yes For Success to get clothes for a job interview. The interview was with one of

the Big Four accounting firms in Wellington.

What did you hope to achieve?

I hoped to interview successfully for the role and be hired by the company.

How did we help you?

Yes for Success helped me get a fantastic interview outfit that made me feel confident.

How did our volunteers make you feel?

The experience exceeded my expectations - the staff were friendly, helpful, supportive, and encouraging.

What was the outcome?

At this stage, I haven't succeeded in the role I interviewed for, but the company is keeping me on their shortlist. I am still interviewing for roles in Wellington and considering doing a Master's degree.

What did this mean to you?

It was great to work with the Yes For Success team, who supported me to achieve my goals.

What does success mean to you?

For me, success means giving things a go and maintaining a positive attitude, even if I don't achieve my goals straight away.

Are you thinking of getting involved in our other programmes?

I would be very interested in exploring mentoring or volunteering opportunities with Yes for Success.

What advice would you give to other people looking to make a change?

If other people want to make a change, I encourage them to reach out to people and organisations who can support them in achieving their goals.
