Updated: Dec 19, 2023

Join our small, friendly team on an exciting journey as we grow our ability to help people achieve their aspirations in work and life. Enjoy great work/life balance with this flexible part-time position

About Us:

Dress for Success Wellington has empowered thousands of women to achieve economic independence by providing a range of confidence boosting programmes including interview stylings, workshops, career coaching and mentoring.

In 2023, we expanded our services to all genders with our new initiative, Yes for Success, and refreshed our programmes to ensure we’re meeting the needs of all communities across the Wellington region. Sustainability is also important to us, both in creating a secure future for our organisation and improving environmental outcomes and we now operate two recycled clothing boutiques.

We are now looking for a dynamic and motivated individual to join our team as a Grants & Individual Giving Officer. The primary responsibility for this role is securing grants from government funding pools, and community and gaming trusts. There is also an exciting opportunity to assist the Executive Manager with the development of an individual giving programme.

The successful candidate will have a passion for fundraising, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record in grant writing.

Responsibilities:

Grant Writing and Relationship Management:

  • Research, identify, and evaluate potential grant opportunities.

  • Develop compelling grant proposals and applications, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and funder priorities.

  • Manage the end-to-end grant application process, including submission, reporting, and compliance.

Individual Giving:

  • Assist the Executive Manager to develop and implement strategies to acquire new individual donors and retain existing ones.

  • Cultivate relationships with individual donors to provide ongoing financial support.

  • Create and execute fundraising campaigns, working with other Dress for Success affiliates nationally and globally.

Collaboration:

  • Collaborate with our staff, volunteers and clients to gather information and data necessary for grant proposals and donor communications.

  • Work closely with our Accounts Officer to ensure accurate and timely reporting on grant expenditures.

Donor Communication:

  • Craft compelling and personalised communication materials for donors, including acknowledgment letters, impact reports, and regular updates.

  • Represent the organisation professionally and effectively communicate its mission and impact to donors and stakeholders.

Research and Analysis:

  • Stay informed about industry trends, best practices, and funding opportunities in the nonprofit sector.

  • Analyse and evaluate fundraising strategies to optimise performance and effectiveness.

Skills and experience:

  • Proven experience in grant writing, with a successful track record of securing funds from government and community trusts.

  • Demonstrated experience in individual giving and donor relations preferred.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills – an ability to tell our story.

  • Strong organisational and project management abilities.

  • Familiarity with fundraising software and databases.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated professional to contribute to the success of our organisation by securing essential funding and building meaningful relationships with donors. If you are passionate about making a difference and have a flair for fundraising, we invite you to apply and join our team!

This is a fixed-term role for 8 hours per week for 12-months. The requirements of the role will be reviewed at the end of the 12 months. Full flexibility, including work from home, is just one of the benefits.

Apply with your CV and covering letter to Jacqui Eyley, Executive Manager, at em@yesforsuccess.org.nz or call 022 594 0057 to discuss. Applications close 14th January 2024.
